Practical Tips

How to Make Information
More Accessible

Brought to you by Stephanie Tsirgiotis, Director of Marketing and Communications

So you want to make information more accessible for external and internal stakeholders? Follow Nathan W. Morris’s advice, “It’s not always that we need to do more, but rather, that we need to focus on less.”  Let’s elaborate.

Make clear,
simple content

By keeping all communications short and to the point, you can bring more people along for the ride. Concise messaging is easier to remember and refer back to.

Provide multiple
points of entry

Whether this looks like a privacy policy linked on multiple pages of your website or a pinned strategic plan link on every Slack channel, make sure there are several convenient ways people can get the info they need.

Encourage feedback

Ask your stakeholders, via a formal survey or informal check-in, if they are facing roadblocks to the info they need to thrive and get a job done. Never assume, always listen.

Tell stories

When possible, tell a story. People care about other people, so find ways to showcase the impact your organization is making on real people and their future.

Poor communication can negatively impact your organization’s end goals. Every person deserves to understand your mission and how you plan on achieving it. Reach out to Phil with any questions about strategically streamlining your internal and external communication efforts to motivate and educate your stakeholders.
